An Hawkeye and his watch (Rolex, of course...)
This and much more is part of the Marvel series Hawkeye: one of the most beloved Avengers.
As we could expect from one of the biggest franchise of the world, Marvel's team likes to hide little easter eggs and clues throughout their films and series.
In the new Disney+ series, "Hawkeye", we see a Rolex watch retrieved from the Avenger Compound, being auctioned on the black market. Immediately after showing the watch, a Mafia group interrupts the auction, looking only for this watch.
Why this Rolex was at the Avenger Compound? Who did it belong to? Why is it so important?
These are only few of the doubts arising after the 1st episode of "Hawkeye".
In a scene in the fourth episode, Hawkeye – AKA Clint Barton – was talking to his wife, Laura, about the stolen Rolex. This implies that the watch might have sentimental value to him (or her).
In another episode, Clint revealed that it belonged to someone that he used to work with and could be used to blow the owner’s cover.
In the last episode, Clint manages to retrieve the watch and gives it to his wife, telling her to take better care of her stuff.
This indicates that Laura is the owner of the Rolex.
On the back of the watch there is the distinct S.H.I.E.L.D. logo and the number 19, which confirms that the watch belonged to a member of S.H.I.E.L.D (codename "Mockingbird").
While the mystery behind the "Hawkeye Rolex watch" has been partially solved (at least we know who is the watch’s owner!) there is still stuff that needs closure. However, we will have to wait and see for the new Marvel's releases hopefully in the next year.
The Rolex watch featured in the Marvel Hawkeye series seems to be an Oyster Perpetual Datejust 31.
